#what kills me is that at first merlin did it because it was his destiny #it was his job to keep arthur alive #but as time progresses we see that merlin’s definition of destiny changes #it stops being about keeping arthur alive so he can be king and albion can be united #and it starts being about merlin not being able to live without arthur #knowing in his heart that this destiny he is chasing is not about a king and some land #it’s about ARTHUR and the HOME they’ve built together #he needs to protect arthur not because some dragon told him to #not because it was written in the stars #not because their legend was foretold #he needs to protect arthur because he cannot bear the thought of a world that doesn’t have arthur in it #we sometimes forget that merlin could have turned away from all this #he could have turned his back so many times #he had a destiny but staying with arthur was a choice that he made #and he made that choice every day of his life #not out of fear but out of love #and that is the bravest and most beautiful thing in the world #wow someone kill me (via youreawizardmerlin)
